How has the representation of the female body in feminist poetry changed from the Second Wave to the Fourth Wave of feminism?

Voices Unbound

For my senior project I held an open-mic feminist poetry night at The Subterrain. This event lasted for two hours and many people from the community read. This process consisted of finding where I wanted to hold my event, contacting the venue and securing it, and then advertising digitally and physically throughout town.  Then, the process at the event consisted of  MC-ing the event, reading some of my own feminist poetry, and encouraging others to read as well.
I chose this as my project because I love spoken word poetry. I love poetry, but spoken word has always called to me. I love hearing the way people perform and I especially love spoken word about social justice and this project was the perfect way for me to combine the two. As I continue in life I want to go to more spoken word events, and if you live somewhere in a smaller town like Durango, there may be less of these events and if you want them to happen you may need to do it yourself.
Completing this project prepared me to hold events like this in my future. I learned how to decide on a venue, how to advertise effectively, I learned what worked and what didn't when it came to advertising. Along with this learning, I learned once again in my life the impact that spoken word has on people. Multiple people came up to me after my event ended and commented on how impactful it was for them.
